Newton is commited to education. Newton School District has four neighborhood elementary schools, public middle and high school as well as Basics and Beyond, an alternative high school. Newton Christian School has students from kindergarden to eighth grade. These schools provide a wide range of quality education opportunities, and are an integral part of all facets of the community.
Jasper County Career Academy, newly constructed in 2009 - provides high school students from Newton and the surrounding areas the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit for courses taken through programs offered at Des Moines Area Community College on the Newton Campus. This gives them a head start on their college and career.
Community passed $19 million bond issue for school improvements and a one-cent sales tax local option tax for school infrastructure.

DMACC's Newton campus serves Jasper and Marion Counties and the surrounding area with a variety of offerings including certificate and degree programs as well as state of the art job retraining facilities. A true public-private partnership, the Newton campus facility provides not only our most popular undergraduate degree programs, but technical and job retraining programs to prepare the regional workforce for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
The Newton campus even offers college credit to local high school students, and CEUs for professional continuing education. The campus has developed partnerships with Buena Vista, Iowa State, Iowa Workforce Development and the Newton Development Corporation to serve as a resource and provide training for our residents. Classes are held in our 105,000 square ft. facility, complete with state of the art computer labs.
The Newton campus also houses a full-service conference center with a 350-seat auditorium, as well as large and small conference rooms. Weddings, receptions, company holiday parties or community events are just a few of the activities that are held in the conference center.
